你好，Marty教授。能简单介绍一下赫特福德大学吗？
Hi, Marty. Welcome to AIP. Well, can you introduce University of Hertfordshire briefly to us?
你好，我是Marty St James教授，是赫特福德大学创意艺术学院研究生课程主任。赫特福德大学位于伦敦以北，火车车程大约20分钟。我们有两个校区。其中一个是College Land校区，另一个是新校区，位于Deharvaland。
Hi, there, my name is Professor Marty St James. And I’m head of postgraduate area at the school of creative arts in University of Hertfordshire. The University of Hertfordshire, is just north of London, twenty minutes by train. We got two campuses, two aspects of campuses. One is on the college land campus，And the other is a very new campus on the Deharvaland campus.
我们现有25,000名在校生学生，仅在我的学院里就有2000名左右学生。我所在的学院是创意艺术学院，涉及所有创意艺术的科目。我们还有着充满活力的研究生学院及学术研究领域。我们学校（赫特福德大学）是一所非常好的大学，这里是一个非常棒的地方，环境很安全，充满了人文关怀，另外这里也是一个非常好的社区。
We’ve got about 25,000 students, which is a lot. In my school alone.We’ve got around about 2,000 students, which is the school of creative arts, which we cover all the subjects in relations to the creative arts as such. We all serve a lively and postgraduate and research area as well. I’m very very optimistic and very very focus on the fact that my university comes that extremely well. It’s a great place to be, it’s a very safe environment, it’s a very caring environment, it’s a good community of students as such, and on the campuses in that.
你对AIP的学生有什么看法呢？能给我们些反馈吗？
So what do you think of the students from AIP? Can you give us some feedbacks?
我认为AIP的学生非常地有趣，今天早上我分别和两名学生聊了聊，他们所选方向分别是产品设计和珠宝设计，都给我留下了很深的印象，而最让我印象深刻的是他们的笔记，写生簿以及他们的创意思维。以及他们能够通过自己的作品看见他们自己的创作过程。
Well, the students at AIP, I think, are very interesting students. I spoke with two this morning, one from the product-design area and one from the jewelry. They impressed me very much indeed. Particularly what impresses me are their notebooks, their sketchbooks and their ideas, and also the fact they are able to see the process through their work as well.
我认为他们必须要做到的是要更专注一些，并且应该更多地在他们作品中展现出技巧方面的东西。因为要记得，艺术大学会关注学生是否具备就业能力，以及他们是否具有相关行业或商业视角。因此，对我们来说重要的是来我们学校的学生具有什么样的能力，他们的思维，创作过程，创意以及专业技巧。
What they must do I think is they must concentrate a little bit more, and show some more of the technical aspects of their work and also some of the final aspects of their work as well, because remember the University of Hertfordshire will very focus on finding students’ employability, and search their very industry and business focuses as well. So this is very important for students come to us: what equipped and what engineer in terms of their thinking, their processes, their ideas and their technical expertise.

So thank you so much for your high evaluation for the students, Is there anything you want to say or some suggestions to the students who might be interested in the University of Hertfordshire
好问题。我认为今天早晨我们和学生所谈到的最重要的事情就是，一个好的作品集是非常重要的。这一点成为重中之重的原因在于，作品集能够展示学生创造力。但创造力是他们需要展示给我们的。
Good question, I think the important thing which we’ve spoken about this morning with the students is how important it is that they get together a very good portfolio. It’s extremely important because it shows a whole number of things in relation to their creativity which they need to demonstrate to my university, as such.
同样，他们还必须展示出他们自然地思考主题的能力以及有趣的创意，对于作品集来说，他们确实需要展示这些，因为在跟面试官交流过程中不会一直带着所有作品集。所以非常重要的一点是，他们能够通过纸张、视频或其他任何方式把它展现给面试官看。
And also it must demonstrate their ability to think naturally about this subject as well and a really bright interesting ideas. With the portfolio they really need to demonstrate this ‘cause remember they are not gonna be such with the portfolio to demonstrator. So it’s very important that they actually show it to demonstrator on the sheet or through the videos or whatever.
第二点则是我认为学生需要深入地去研究，尽可能多地搜寻有关于我们大学的信息，学生也应该将我们学校和其他学校进行对比。
The second thing is that I think the students need to make a real intensive look，briefly to find that as much as possible about my universities, I know this well, and compare them as such.
